On 28th May 2018, Kiddiwinkie Schoolhouse @ Cactus celebrated their annual project ‘Little Big Hearts’. This year’s Project Little Big Heart is in partnership with Chen Su Lan Methodist Children’s Home and part of the Start Small Dream Big initiative.
Themed “Colourful Hearts”, we had a family charity event cum mass picnic at Sengkang Riverside Park with all of our parents and children. Through this event, we hope to spread love and kindness to everyone! 😊
Our Cactus family turned up at Sengkang Riverside Park donned in their team colour and with their picnic baskets filled to the brim! The sun was out, the weather was pleasant for a picnic and everyone was excited and full of energy!
Parents setting up their picnic mats/areas and children getting cosy in their tents.
We kickstarted our event with some Zumba! Time to get those bodies moving and warmed up for our games later! Led by our Dancing Toes instructor, Ms Dona, and some of our teachers, our parents and children grooved to the beats.
Next up, we have our mini-game stations! We had 7 mini-games in total – from shake it off to eagles and chicks to where’s the handkerchief. Everyone gathered with their groups and headed off to the various stations around the open field at the park.
However, the good weather did not last. As the teams were onto their fifth game, the weather took a turn and it started to drizzle. We had to quickly move back into the shelter. But the gloomy weather did not dampen our spirits! As we gathered back to our picnic mats, our parents and children started enjoying out all the delicious foods they have prepared. Our teachers even led a sing-a-long session with their guitar and ukulele.
Our guest, Mr Patrick, from Chen Su Lan Methodist Children’s Home also came down to our family charity event. He shared about some of the wonderful works that the home is doing for the needy and disadvantaged children in Singapore. Our Cluster Principal, Ms Xaviera, presented a cheque to Chen Su Lan Methodist Children’s Home for all the donations we have collected.
After which, we had a Macho dad and Hottest mom match! Our daddies gathered to the front and they had a “shake the ping pong balls out of the tissue box” competition, while our mommies had their “pull the tail” match! It was an intense two matches as our daddies and mommies gave their fullest and their children cheering on for them. The winners of the matches were crowned our Macho Dad and Hottest Mom! They even did a family dab!
To end off our family charity event, we had a mini award ceremony for our top 3 most creative picnic design competition. Some of our families went all out to decorate their picnic area and even made their picnic food according to their theme!
It was definitely a fun-filled and heart-warming morning with all of our parents and children from Kiddiwinkie Schoolhouse @ Cactus!
